Meet Chris, carer at Bupa Bendigo for 15 years
Chris joined our Bupa Bendigo Aged care team as a carer, when his daughter was young, and he was looking for a more flexible job.
That was 15 years ago, and we’re happy to say, Chris is still here and caring for our residents as though they were family.
“Hearing residents singing makes me happy, there’s nothing like hearing music fill the home.” Chris said.
“The team here is also great. The support and experience I’ve gained over the years makes the job easier and I enjoy working with so many people with a similar passion for care.”
Journey Beginnings:
My career at Bupa Bendigo began when I required a change from a long-term full-time job that would give me flexibility of hours so that I could enjoy the parenting of my young daughter, shared care and also to be able to provide for her.
Memorable Moments:
It is hard to put down one as there are many, but they’re all about being with the residents and having fun with them and hearing them laugh during times that aren’t so easy.
Impact on Residents:
We provide high quality care and build good relationships with our residents to help make this remaining stage in their lives as safe, as comfortable, and as enjoyable as we can which also helps put their families’ mind at ease.
Personal Growth:
I enjoy helping people, so working here satisfies that need, and I have got to meet and work with so many people with a similar passion.
The training, experience, and knowledge that I have gained over the years I’ve been here at Bupa Bendigo has given me confidence and has helped made it easier to stay working in this high demanding and at times high stressful industry.
Future Aspirations:
I enjoy my job here and would like to continue being a part of Bupa Bendigo.
There has been a lot of significant improvements to the home, and I would still like to see and be a part of the continuing development ahead.
