Why Bupa Aged Care

Bupa Aged Care is one of Australia’s largest private residential aged care providers with over 50 care homes throughout the country.

As a team of dedicated healthcare professionals, we are trusted to provide care and support to more than 5,000 residents, including residential, dementia care, palliative and respite short-stay care services.

Your care, your way

We believe there is only one way to care for you, and that’s your way. When it comes to aged care, we understand one size doesn’t fit all.

Making residents’ lives as healthy and happy as we can, is at the heart of everything we do.

We value the experience of passionate teams with registered nurses, carers, chefs and lifestyle officers, all helping to make you feel at home.

Be assured, we’ll be there when you need us with:

  • Access to a registered nurse rostered 24 hours a day

  • An easy-to-use nurse call system

  • Support from your Bupa GP or Nurse Practitioner

  • Regular review of your care plans

Our approach to your health and wellbeing

Our role isn’t just to care for you if you’re not well; it’s also to help you stay healthy.

We aim to provide you with preventative care, helping to reduce the need for hospitalisation and as part of our model of care, some homes have in-home and visiting GPs and Nurse Practitioners (NP’s).

We embrace your individuality and work with you and your family to ensure you get the right care and support you need. We call it Person First and we believe that this approach is beneficial to all residents, especially those who are living with dementia.

We’ll take the time to get to know what makes you, you. In partnership, we’ll design a personalised care plan using tools like ‘My day, my way’. We will ask you about things like:

  • Personal routines

  • General likes and dislikes

  • Favourite activities, interests and hobbies

  • How you’d like to be helped by the care team on a day-to-day basis

  • What you like to eat and drink

  • Your sleep patterns

  • Your values, history, family

In partnership with you and your health specialists, we regularly review and co-ordinate care from complementary health and wellbeing experts to ensure you are supported, such as:

  • Allied health professionals: physiotherapists, podiatrists, dietitians and speech pathologists

  • Bupa healthcare services: Bupa Optical, Bupa Dental and audiology (hearing)

We can also help with arranging pathology, scripts, referrals and minor surgical procedures as needed.

Healthy people, healthy planet

We believe that your health and wellbeing is tied to also looking after the planet. All Bupa Aged Care homes in Australia use 100% renewable electricity, and we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions.

  • We are reducing our landfill by switching to products that use 100% recyclable packaging.

  • Plastic toothbrushes have been replaced with bamboo, helping to reduce over 20,000 brushes.

  • 40 of our homes have remote lighting systems, to reduce the need for electrical teams to travel by around 440 visits annually. The remaining plan to be complete by 2024.
