Welcome to Bupa Woodend

Our care home is nestled in the heart of the Macedon Ranges, about an hour north of Melbourne and surrounded by beautiful bush scenery and gardens.

We have a delightful range of communal indoor areas, including small quiet seating areas, larger lounge room areas and a therapy room with craft materials. Each resident community has its own dining area with a beautiful fireplace and gas heater, giving the rooms a homely feel and keeping them cosy in colder weather.

Outdoors, we have five courtyards and scenic gardens with a gazebo and veranda. You can take advantage of our bowling green, rotunda BBQ and visiting families can enjoy the childrens’ playground and sandpit. Enjoy sitting outside, overlooking Mt Macedon, and soaking up the serenity of the country lifestyle in our beautiful gardens which holds pride of place for all our residents and visitors that come to Bupa Woodend.

Care, first and foremost

We believe that there’s only one way to care, your way. That’s why we take the time to get to know you, so we can tailor your care to help support you in the way that you prefer.

You can be confident that we’ll be there for you when you need us with access to our registered nurse 24 hours a day. We also have a CCTV security system and an easy-to-use nurse call system.

Your care team

At Bupa Woodend, we value the experience of our registered nurses and carers who are committed to providing the care you need, in the way you want. Our experienced team are trained in dementia and palliative care and offer respectful and individualised care and support.

We have a close relationship with a palliative health care service in Bendigo, where they visit our home and work collaboratively with our nurses to provide holistic care. We can even set up a room for family or friends to stay over.

As well as our dedicated care team, you will have regular access to a local General Practitioner (GP), physiotherapist, optometrist, podiatrist and dental services.

Types of care

Residential Care

At Bupa Woodend, we offer a full range of care to help suit your needs. And if your needs change, we will continue to support you, by adapting the care we offer you. This helps to minimise disruption and provides peace of mind for you and your family.

Specialised Dementia Care

Our team completes specialist dementia training, which teaches them to put the person first and an individual’s condition, or illness, second. We call this person-first care and it ensures that you are treated as an individual in everything we do.

Walking around our community for people living with dementia, you will notice our communal areas are designed to feel homely and familiar, offering therapeutic benefits through reminiscence.

We provide a choice of cuisine at every meal. We value your input, and strive to make sure that your preferences are reflected in our menus as much as possible. You can choose to eat in one of our lovely sociable dining rooms.

Between mealtimes, we provide mid-morning and afternoon tea with fruit platters and hold a happy hour every Friday, so there’s always something to delight your taste buds. Our library room hosts wonderful high teas with treats and wine appreciation days.

We welcome your friends and family at any time, giving you and your loved ones flexibility and peace of mind that they can pop by to visit you whenever they’d like.

As well as a children’s play area, we also offer children’s activity packs with colouring pages. Your family is also welcome to attend our special occasions, including cultural days, birthdays, concerts and bus outings. If there’s a special occasion that you would like to celebrate with your family and friends, let us know and our chef can whip up high tea to be enjoyed in our special dining room.

Our monthly resident-relative meetings are a great opportunity for you to let us know how things are going for you. They also give us a chance to get to know your family a little better. Family members can also receive our monthly newsletter, filled with fun information on residents and the team and updates on events around the home.

Community connections

Bupa Woodend enjoys strong ties with the local community and the support of a committed group of volunteers. Volunteers bring entertainment and a lot of laughs into our home, with activities like bingo days, gardening and sculpture.

To support your spiritual needs, we receive regular visits from a range of religious groups, who can help ensure that your beliefs are well catered for.

With our own Bupa bus you can enjoy regular outings to the surrounding farms and Macedon Ranges. We enjoy visiting the local RSL club and heading out for lunch.

Choosing a payment option that suits you

Moving into a care home is a big decision and it’s important to make sure you choose the payment option that suits you best. Your costs may vary according to your financial situation and we advise you to seek independent financial advice before entering an aged care home to help you choose the right payment option for you.

To help ensure that care is affordable for everyone, the Australian Government calculates and regulates maximum daily fees and enforces limits as to how much you can be asked to pay for accommodation.

What’s covered in my fees?

Your fees for aged care cover both the care you receive and your accommodation, and sometimes, extra services.

Care

Your care fees cover daily living costs such as nursing care, housekeeping and meals. They are paid, in part, by all residents and are determined by the Department of Social Services.

Accommodation

For residents entering care after July 1 2014, you can choose from three simple ways to pay for your accommodation.

living longer living better

These options allow for more flexibility on how you pay for accommodation and are designed to be fairer for everyone.

You can visit the web page of your chosen care home on the Bupa Aged Care website and click on the “Accommodation” tab.

Extra Services

Some aged care homes offer a higher standard of accommodation, food and service in return for a daily fee. Whether you are in an Extra Service home or not, the quality of your care remains the same.
